Wins Best Animal Portrait Award at

Professional Photographers of Oregon Annual Print Competition

Wilsonville, OR (March 3, 2009) –Three Chinese Shar-Pei puppies sit in a washtub posing in front of professional photographer Kathi Lamm’s camera. Lamm’s "Rub A Dub Dub. . . . Too Long in the Tub" was chosen Best Animal Portrait out of over 100 other entries in the recent 2009 Professional Photographers of Oregon print competition.

Professional Photographers of Oregon promotes quality business, professional and artistic standards for its members throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Each year a panel of certified local and national judges review images entered into print competition. The images are judged on impact, composition, lighting, creativity, and technical quality.

The breeder, Shelia Marquart of Tuck N’ Roll Acres, has been bringing generations of Shar-Pei puppies to Lamm Photography. "Photographing puppies is always a challenge. People ask me how I get them to stay still. The answer is they don’t! You need to have patience, perseverance, and a fast trigger finger. Being good at making funny little noises helps too!" commented Kathi Lamm.

For over 20 years, Lamm has been a professional photographer in the Portland-metro area, specializing in capturing that special bond between humans and animals. Her work hangs in many veterinary clinics and other pet related business across the greater Portland area. Her portraits have won numerous awards, been on display at EPCOT center, and appeared in books, cards, calendars, and national advertisements.

Kathi Lamm is active in giving back to the animal community. Most recently she has donated her photographic skills to Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon and Cat Adoption Team, photographing their veterinarians at work, the facilities, volunteers, and their cats. Kathi’s photographs will be used to build a library of images for the agencies to advertise the great work they do and to promote spaying and neutering and adopting shelter animals. She has also donated her photographic skills to other animal organizations such as Oregon Humane Society and Dove Lewis.

Lamm resided in the West Linn area for many years. Five years ago she realized her childhood dream of living on a farm and now resides outside of Wilsonville with two horses, two miniature donkeys, three cats, one rabbit, and her husband.
